ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College men's swim squad capped a successful Friday as the Spartans are second of six teams at the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference championships in St. Mary's City, Maryland. The Spartans have totaled 232.5 points as they trail the University of Mary Washington as the Eagles have 290 points.
St. Mary's is third with 141.5 points followed by Salisbury (124 points), Frostburg State (105), and Marymount (105 points).
York had a pair of individual winners on Friday as freshman Keven Stahl earned an NCAA B cut with his win in the 500 freestyle. His time was 4:31.39. Sophomore Jesse Tate picked his victory in the 200 IM, touching the wall in a time of 1:52.98. Tate is now a four-time individual All-CAC honoree as he was a three-time second-teamer last year.
The victory in the 400 medley relay marked the Spartans second year of capturing the race. The win in the 800 free relay marks the first time since 2000 that Mary Washington has not won the race. Catholic University won that race in 2000 and that was also the last time that Mary Washington didn't win the CAC championship.
