YORK, Pa. – The York College men's swim team lost to Ursinus 153-102 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in York.
With the loss the Spartans now carry a 5-6-1 overall record.
The Green and White started things off with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Cody Latchford (New Castle, Del./William Penn), Andy Woods (Dover, Pa./Dover), Kyle Walthall (Port Huereme, Ca./Rio Mesa) and Shane Bonner (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) made up the relay team that recorded a time of 1:42.41.
Bonner looked strong, finishing the day with two first place victories as well. In the 50 yard freestyle he recorded a time of 22.22 and a short time later finished the 100 yard freestyle in 49.94.
Walthall jumped back into things with first place finishes in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. In the 100 he swam 1:01.82 and in the 200 he touched the wall in 2:17.38. Walthall also recorded a third place finish in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:12.07.
The Spartans also earned a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with Woods swimming 57.22. Woods also placed third place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.89 and took third in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.69.
Latchford finished the meet with two second place finishes. The first came in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.98. The second was in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.35.
In distance, freshman David Altobelli (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake) finished third during the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:24.20.
The Spartans return to action on Monday, January 14 as they travel to take on Rowan at 6:00 pm.
