YORK, Pa. – The York College men's swimming team suffered a 121-84 loss to visiting Rowan University on Monday evening in York. With the loss, the Spartans drop to 10-4 on the season while the Profs improve 4-0 on the year.
Jack Gottschalk picked up the victory in the 1,000 freestyle as he posted a victorious 10:35.60. The Spartan senior edged out Christopher Alaimo's second place time of 10:36.13. Gottschalk later registered second in the 500 freestyle with a 5:04.85, finishing just one-tenth of a second out of first.
Jamie Hicks posted York's third victory of the evening, as he won the 100 breaststroke. Hick finished the race in 1:03.28 to take the win.
In the 200 freestyle, Cody Latchford posted a runner-up spot as he touched the wall at 1:50.93. Later in the meet, Latchford tallied another second place finish as he posted a 57.73.
Steven Mercer nabbed another second-place finish for the Green and White with a 4:35.65 in the 400 IM while Andy Woods posted a 54.62 in the 100 butterfly to take second. In the 100 freestyle, Bonner registered a 50.09 as he recorded the second spot for the Green and White.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, January 21, when they host Frostburg St. at 1:00 pm. Prior to York's final regular season meet of the season, the Green and White will celebrate senior day as they recognize Gottschalk, Janosky, Hicks, and Alex Diehl for their contributions to the program during their time with the Spartans.
