2010-11: Enters his senior campaign as one of the most decorated Spartans ... is outstanding in the backstroke ... selected as one of York's three captains this year ... is a bold swimmer who is willing to face anyone ... both hardworking and accomplished ... has experienced quality success on the collegiate level ... is exceptionally focused this year as he looks for a tremendous close to his Spartan career.
2009-10: In his junior year, AJ swam season best times in the 500 free and 100 and 200 backstroke. In the 500 free he swam a life time best of 4:58.25. In the 200 backstroke he swam to another life time best at 1:58.34 and placed third at the CAC Conference Championship. Also at CACs AJ swam 100 backstroke at 54.44 and won the event. He was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay and was a part of the second place 200 medley. He was voted by the team as Most Valued Swimmer for the season.
Personal: Is a criminal justice major with a minor in philosophy ... is the son of Chris and Patti Bean ... born on February 8, 1989 ... swam for the Fredrick Area Swim Team (FAST) on the club level ... in high school was named First-Team All-Fredrick County ... names his parents as the people he most admires ... hobbies include playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II ... favorite athlete is Ryan Lochte ... choose York because of the "beauty and quaintness of the campus, small classes and the impressive swimming pool" ... his most significant athletic achievement is winning the 100 backstroke title at the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference championships ... lists his most memorable athletic moment at York as "breaking the 200 back pool record" ... after graduation he plans on going to law school.
