YORK, PA – The York College men’s swimming team posted their tenth win of the season Saturday, with a 215-36 result over visiting Frostburg State University. In their final regular season meet before next month’s Capital Athletic Conference Championships, the Green and White swept the 14 event-contest, taking first in each race.
The meet was highlighted by Spartan junior Steve Yeager (Silver Spring, Pa./Wilson) who established a new pool record in the 200 breaststroke. Yeager touched the wall at 2:16.86, breaking his own previous mark by nearly two seconds. Yeager added another first place for the Spartans in the 1,000 freestyle, taking that event in 10:29.30.

Freshmen Will McLennan (Sparks, Md./Calvert Hall) and Steve Mercer (Rockville, Md./The Heights School), two members of York’s talented rookie class, each secured victories of their own on Saturday. McLeannan tallied a 22.57 in the 50 freestyle before Mercer’s 4:28.20 time in the 400 IM.
York also took both relay events notching the triumphs in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. Bean, Tobin, Andy Woods (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area), and Hilt combined for a 1:40.78. In the 200, Tom DeCoursey (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), McLennan, Jack Gottschalk (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston), and Hilt completed the race in 1:30.93.
Today’s meet with Frostburg was the final home event for York’s seven seniors. Murphy, Arnold, Andy Demarest (Galloway, N.J./Abesegami), Justin Murphy (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis), Dan Kresser (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional), Colin Brown (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial), and Adam Willier (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) close out their careers in the Green and White.
