YORK, PA-The York College men’s swim team dropped a tough 110-90 decision to the University of Mary Washington in a Capital Athletic Conference meet in York, PA on Saturday. The Eagles improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to 3-2 and 2-2 in the league.
The Spartans received four individual firsts, one relay first, a pair of relay seconds, and one individual second.
Senior Steven Fulcher (Columbia, Md./Calvert Hall) posted a pair of wins as he continues his outstanding senior year. Fulcher won the 50 free in a time of 22.05 while he also picked up a victory in the 200 backstroke. Fulcher’s backstroke time was 2:01.19. Junior Matt Jennings (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) earned another one of York’s first place finishes as he won the 100 free as he touched the wall in a time of 49.65. Freshman Steve Tobin (Estell Manor, N.J./Holy Spirit) recorded York’s fourth win as he placed first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.09.
The Spartans 400 free relay team of Mike Murphy (Farmingdale, N.J./Colts Neck), Ben Hilt (Mt. Joy, Pa./Hempfield), Clark Arnold (York, Pa./Northeastern), and Jennings won the event with a time of 3:22.39.
Sophomore Adam Willier (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) finished second 200 breaststroke, clocking in with a time of 2:34.86.
The Spartans 400 medley relay “A” team and the 400 free relay “B” team each finished second in their respective races.
The green and white return to action on Saturday when they travel to St. Mary’s to face the Seahawks and Frostburg State in a tri-meet. The action is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
