Men's Swimming & Diving

Gina McHenry is a graduate of York College and has been associated with YCP for 20 years. She swam with the Spartans for four seasons before graduating with a degree in recreation and leisure administration. One year following her graduation, McHenry returned to the program as an assistant coach. The following season, she became the Spartan head coach.

McHenry brings a wealth of experience to the Spartan program as she owns the second-longest tenure as a head coach in the Capital Athletic Conference. She is a three-time Capital Athletic Conference men’s Coach-of-the-Year, winning the award in 2003-04, 2005-06, and 2006-07.

“Our coaching staff works to develop each swimmer to their fullest potential as an individual and a team member. Hard work, dedication, and pride are key elements to the YCP swimming program,” says McHenry.

McHenry resides in Jacobus with her husband, Bob, and daughter Sophia.

Scott Herdson returns to the Spartan coaching staff as Coach McHenry’s assistant. Herdson begins his 11th season poolside after a successful collegiate career. His recruiting efforts have paid off handsomely for the Spartans as his tireless work ethic helps attract quality student-athletes.

Herdson knows what it takes to be successful in the Spartan program as he was a four-year letter winner that established two school records. Herdson was a team captain and MVP during his years in the YCP pool. He graduated with a degree in information systems, and Herdson also owns an MBA from YCP.
