Men's Soccer Prepares for CAC Postseason Play

YORK PA. - The York College men’s soccer team (16-2) starts its CAC tournament run this Wednesday against Christopher Newport (13-5-1) at 11:30 a.m. on Graham Field.

The Spartans enter the CAC tournament behind a strong October performance with an 8-1 record.  The team combined to score 22 goals and shutout five of the nine teams they faced in October.  The Spartans are lead by Brad Schmidt (Moorestown, N.J. / Delran) who has only allowed eight goals all season, while nabbing 45 saves with a .849 save percentage.

Offensively the Spartans have many options for their offensive firepower with Jake Hower (Lake Forest, Calif. / El Toro) and Brendan Saberton (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum) partnering up for 12 goals between the them.  Senior Chris Weaver (Baltimore, Md. / Archbishop Curley) is always an athlete to watch with his 25 shots on goal, four goals, and six assists.  The Spartans have scored 37 goals on the year and their ability to keep the ball on the far side of the field has been crucial to their success.

The Spartans have faced their CAC opener opponent once this year.  York faced Christopher Newport on Graham Field, just over a month ago, and were able to get a 2-1 double-overtime victory (Read the whole story here).  The Spartans will be ready to take on the Captains and will play host to an exciting early morning game.
