YORK, Pa. – The York College men's soccer program received great news this winter as seniors Mike Gill and Trey Good were recognized for their academic performance as well as their on field success. Named to the honorable mention list of NSCAA Scholar All-East Region squad, Gill and Good mark the first time in the history of the program that Spartans received such an honor.
Gill put together a strong final season with the Green and White. The senior landed on the All-Capital Athletic Conference second-team after starting in each of the Spartans' 22 games this season. Serving the squad as a captain in 2010 and 2011, he tallied one goal and posted four assists for the 11-6-5 CAC Tournament Champions. Gill sports a 3.64 as a business administration major with a minor in economics.
Good closed out his time with York as a tough student-athlete who handled adversity throughout his career. Putting together a fine senior campaign, Good played in 16 matches, starting 14 of those games. A captain and strong defensive presence for the Green and White, Good helped the Spartans to a 0.82 goals against average while offensively he tallied one assist on the year, providing the helper in York's 4-1 CAC triumph over Stevenson on October 12. Academically, Good is a business administration major with a minor in marketing with a 3.62 GPA.
According to the NSCAA, "To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution; be in his or her second year at the current school if he or she is a transfer student; and submit an official copy of a certified transcript."
