YORK, Pa. – York College men's soccer sophomore Mike Kane has been selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Kane helped lead the Spartans to a 3-0 week as each victory came in shutout fashion.
Kane, a second year Spartan, was a key cog in the Green and White defense during the three-game run. Kane came off the bench in a solid reserve role for the York in the 1-0 triumph over Susquehanna on Tuesday.
In York's own Holiday Inn Conference Center Soccer Classic, Kane drew the first start of his college career against Cabrini in Saturday's opening match. Kane played exceptionally well for the Spartans as the Green and White picked up a 3-0 victory.
The Classic's championship match featured York and McDaniel with Kane again playing a solid role. Helping to lead the defense, Kane helped the Spartans to a title-winning 4-0 triumph over the Green Terror.
Kane and the Spartans will look to continue their winning ways as they return to action on Saturday, September 17. York travels to Marymount (Va.) for their first Capital Athletic Conference match of the season. Kick-off is slated for 11:30 am.
