YORK, PA – York College men’s
soccer goalkeeper Ryan Hock (Brookeville,
Md./Sherwood) has been selected as the Spartan
Athlete-of-the-Week for September 14-20.
The senior captain posted his second clean sheet of the year Saturday against #10 Stevens Tech in a battle of top-15 squads. Led by Hock, the Spartans held the Ducks scoreless throughout the 90 minutes of action, while securing the victory on an Antonio Bua (Lancaster, Pa./Laupeter-Strasburg) tally in the 66th minute.
Hock was nothing short of marvelous against the 2008 NCAA Tournament finalist. He notched six saves, including a pair of outstanding efforts, to keep the Ducks off the board. He displayed his uncanny athleticism and length with his stop in the 20th minute, a one-handed tip save over the crossbar off of a deflected free kick. Hock came up big once again in the 86th minute, making a quick collapse save to parry Terrence Johnson’s attempt harmlessly away from the Spartan net.
For the season, Hock has won each of his three starts, two coming in shutout fashion. He has registered a 0.33 goals against average over his 270 minutes between the pipes, posting a .889 save percentage along the way.
York returns to action on Wednesday, with their first Capital Athletic Conference match of the season. The Spartans will travel to Stevenson University to take on the Mustangs in a 4:00 pm tilt.
