YORK, PA - On the heels of his outstanding performance last Saturday against #10 Stevens Tech, York College senior goalkeeper Ryan Hock (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) has been chosen as the Capital Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week in men's soccer for September 14-20.
Hock, who was selected as the Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week earlier in the day, notched six saves against Stevens in York's 1-0 win over the 2008 NCAA Tournament finalist. The senior captain came up with two huge stops for the Green and White - a 20th minute acrobatic tip-save and an 86th minute shutout saving stop.
"This is the kind of stuff that I have waited for for three years now," Hock said. "To be able to play and to play well and help out my teammates who really [work hard] every day.
"I'm ecstatic about getting these honors," Hock continued. "My first concern was to get in the game and then to win it. To get these accolades later was a complete surprise."
In his three starts this season, Hock has led the 14th-ranked Spartans to a flawless 3-0 mark, notching a pair of clean sheets in those three matches. Hock has put up a 0.33 goals against average while registering a .889 save percentage in 2009.
