YORK, PA – York College men’s soccer senior goalkeeper Kyle Marks (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) has been named Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week for his performance during the week of September 7 through 13. Marks posted a pair of clean sheets as the Spartans went 2-0 for the week.
In Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Johns Hopkins University, Marks made a trio of saves, including a brilliant breakaway stop, to secure the Spartans’ shutout.
Hosting Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon, the All-Capital Athletic Conference net minder led York to a 2-0 victory. Marks’ only save of the afternoon came on a Hornet 1v1 opportunity where he made another brilliant point-blank save.
His boisterous communication and knowledge of the game combined with the ability to come off his line to thwart chances before they even become shots, makes the senior one of the top goalkeepers in the CAC.
In 2008, Marks is 5-0 and has started each of York’s five contests, playing 404:24 of the Spartans’ 449:24 minutes. He has not given up a single score the entire season, and is credited with four shutouts.
Marks and the Spartans look to stretch their season-opening winning streak to six on Tuesday evening when they travel to Gettysburg for a 7:00 pm non-conference tilt.
