Spartans Heading to Stevens (NJ) for NCAA Tournament

The York College men’s soccer team received an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament Monday morning.  The Spartans (19-2) will travel to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. to open the national tournament and will face Dickinson College of the Centennial Conference. 

The Red Devils also received an at-large berth after putting together an impressive 2007 campaign going 13-2-3.  Game time is tentatively set for Saturday, November 10 at 7:30 pm with the match actually beginning 30 minutes following the close of the first game. 

On the other side of the group, Stevens hosts Eastern University in Saturday’s first match beginning at 5:00 pm.  Stevens (17-1-2) earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament after blanking St. John Fisher College 2-0 for the Empire 8 Conference title.  Eastern (13-5-1) grabbed an automatic berth by way of a 1-0 defeat of Misericordia for the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship. 

The two winners will square off Sunday, November 11 at 6:00 pm for the right to advance to the Sweet 16.
