Jim Griffin enters his fifth season as the
head coach of the York College men’s lacrosse program. Last
season, Griffin guided the Spartans to their second-highest win
total in program history, going 10-7 on the campaign and advancing
to the Capital Athletic Conference tournament semifinals. In his
first season at the helm of the program, Griffi led the green and
white to a then school-record five wins. Griffin’s second
season brought double the success as the Spartans went 11-5 overall
and 4-2 in CAC play, as both marks were school records. In his
fifth season, Griffin will look to continue to build the York
program into one of the CAC’s best.
Griffin is in his eighth year of involvement
with the men’s lacrosse program at York, after playing
collegiately at Division II Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. He
served his first three seasons on the Spartan staff as York’s
defensive coordinator and goalies’ coach. As an assistant and
now the Spartans’ head coach, Griffin’s tireless
efforts on the recruiting circuit have allowed the green and white
to bring in a number of top-notch classes. Heading into the 2009
season, the Spartan mentor is please with the direction of the York
program.
“We continue to make strides each and
every season,” Griffin said. “We have a very talented
group of student-athletes who are committed to making this team and
this program better every day. That, in tandem with the Grumbacher
Sport & Fitness Center and Kinsley Field, will enable us to
continue to grow and develop as a program.”
In addition to his collegiate coaching duties,
he serves York College as an Academic Advisor for non-athletes.
Griffin was also a guest speaker at the 2006 U.S. Lacrosse National
Convention in Philadelphia, Pa.

Josh Hamilton embarks on his second season on
the Spartan staff and brings a wealth of lacrosse knowledge to the
York sideline.
Hamilton, who is charged with developing the
Spartan attackers, will continue to work the Spartan offense this
season after a successful 2008. In his first season, the Spartans
accumulated 163 goals over their 17 contests, outshooting their
opponents 650-581. The Spartan attack will continue to benefit
greatly from Hamilton’s experience and savvy on the offensive
end of the field.
Collegiately, Hamilton played midfielder at
Division I Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y. During his high
school days, Hamilton started at Severna Park, a lacrosse
powerhouse in Maryland.
