#2 Spartans Travel to #1 RIT for NCAA Quarterfinal Contest

YORK, PA – The York College men's lacrosse team heads back on the road on Wednesday for an Elite Eight date with top ranked Rochester Institute of Technology. The first face off is set for 7:00 pm at RIT's Turf Field. The Spartans earned their way to the national quarterfinals with a 15-7 win over Western New England in the second round followed by a 13-11 win at #4 Amherst on Saturday.

RIT has cruised to this point in the tournament as they pounded New England College 26-3 in the second round followed by a 17-9 win over #14 Stevens in the third round. The Tigers are the last remaining unbeaten team in Division III men's lacrosse at 20-0.

The Spartans are making their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance … York has qualified for the tournament in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018 … York is 6-3 all-time in the NCAA Tournament … York RIT for the first time in the NCAA tournament … the two squads have one previous meeting as RIT notched a 12-9 win in Orlando, Florida on March 2, 2009 … York has never played the same team more than once in the NCAA Tournament as they have faced nine different opponents … York has advanced to the Sweet 16 twice and will make their second Elite Eight (Quarterfinal) appearance in school history … York has never advanced to the Final Four … York is playing just their third NCAA road game in school history as their seven other NCAA games have all been played at Kinsley Field … York set a new school record for an NCAA Tournament game with their 15 goals in the second round win over Western New England.

The forecast for Rochester on Wednesday is for patchy morning fog but clearing up and becoming sunny and warm. The high temperature will be 75 with a real-feel of 80 degrees. Temperature at first face off is forecasted for 71 with a real-feel of 70 degrees with a zero percent chance of precipitation.

The winner of the game will face off against Wesleyan (Conn.) and Tufts winner in the Final Four on Sunday, May 20. The site and time will be determined on Thursday.
