Pfeiffer Scores Five, Dishes Four Assists in Win over McDaniel

YORK, Pa. – The York College men's lacrosse team defeated McDaniel College 16-8 on Saturday at Kinsley Field behind a combined ten goals from Thomas Pfeiffer and Hunter Davis. Pfeiffer finished with a career-high nine points, just one short of matching the school record, to help lead the fifth-ranked Spartans to their third win of the season.

How it Happened:
• The Spartans struck first, less than five minutes in, thanks to Thomas Pfeiffer, getting an assist from Matt Whitcher. Pfeiffer finished with nine points, on five goals and four assists, tied for the second-most points in a game in school history, just one point from matching the record. McDaniel answered just over a minute later, but Hunter Davis had a quick response, getting another assist from Whitcher. Davis' goal came just 13 seconds after the Green Terror scored. Throughout the day, York answered McDaniel's scores with goals of its own. On four occasions, the Green and White scored within a minute of a McDaniel goal. Whitcher finished the first quarter with a goal and a pair of assists, and York led 4-3 after 15 minutes.

• Pfeiffer found Brendan McGrath for the first goal in the second quarter, with just 4:24 left in the half. Again the Green Terror responded, closing the gap to 5-4 with just over two minutes to play, but Pfeiffer scored and then assisted on a goal from Davis, putting some distance between York and McDaniel at the break.

• The Spartans continued to slowly expand their advantage in the third quarter, getting goals from Pfeiffer, Davis and Joey Fiorino. York took a 10-6 lead into the fourth, before exploding for six goals in the final period. Gunnar Reynolds and Ryan Cook finished their chances in front of net to help pad the York advantage, cruising to a 16-8 win.
