York College men’s lacrosse freshman Tyler Hutson was named the Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and landed on the all-league first team while senior B.J. Blaker garnered second team all-conference honors as released by the conference office on Wednesday. Hutson becomes the second Spartan to capture CAC Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year accolades as Andrew Collins was the league’s Co-Rookie of the Year in 2004.

York College Assistant Dean for Athletics and Recreation Paul Saikia has announced that Brandon Childs has been selected as the Spartans’ new Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach / Strength and Conditioning Coach. Childs comes to York College from Eastern University where he has served as the head lacrosse coach for the last three years.
U.S. Army National Guard Spc. Matthew Keeler, public affairs specialist with the 109th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, and a Ridley, Pa., native, received a Purple Heart award in a ceremony July 18 inside the Joint Operation Command, Joint Base Balad, Iraq.
