Spartans to Participate in Colleluori Fall Classic
YORK, PA – The York College men’s
lacrosse team is set to participate in the 2009 Nick Colleluori
Classic on Sunday, October 11, at Ridley High School in Ridley,
Pennsylvania. The 3rd annual fall tournament is hosted by the
HEADstrong foundation to aid in the fight against blood
cancers.
The event is held in honor of Nicholas
(“Head”) Colleluori who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins
Lymphoma in September of 2005. A graduate of Ridely High,
Colleluori was just beginning his sophomore year at Hofstra
University after earning a role on the Pride’s men’s
lacrosse squad the previous spring. Colleluori lost his battle just
14 months later but his memory lives on in the Classic.
The Spartans, who are raising money for the
foundation by selling neon green HEADstrong t-shirts throughout the
fall, will square off with Widener, Scranton, and Ursinus at Ridley
High. Admission to the Classic is $10 with all proceeds benefiting
the fight against blood cancers through the HEADstrong
foundation.
