YORK, PA – The York College men's basketball team used a 52 point second half to roll past Frostburg State University 86-72 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night in York. The Spartans shot 58% in the second half and scored 52 points after shooting 27% in the first half.

• The Spartans jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead only to have the Bobcats take a 9-7 lead at the first media timeout. The Bobcats would eventually push their lead to five twice, the second time coming at 28-23 with 6:07 left in the half.
• The Spartans outscored the Bobcats 11-5 over the final 5:20 of the half to take a 34-31 lead to the break.
• The second half would be tied twice in the first two minutes of the stanza, the second tie being at 36-36. York proceeded to rip off a 12-2 run highlighted by eight points from Jared Wagner as the Spartans took a 48-38 lead with 15:32 left in the game.
• Frostburg trimmed the York lead to single digits four different times over the next four minutes but the Spartans hit back-to-back-to-back three pointers from Mike Frauenheim, Jason Bady, and Kevin Callahan as the York lead ballooned to 17 at 70-53. The Spartan lead would not fall below 13 points the rest of the way as York has now won three straight and five of their last six games.

The Spartans swept the regular season series from the Bobcats as York is now 15-18 all-time against FSU … the Spartans are now 7-3 at home … York is now 12-3 when having the lead at the half … the Spartans shot a blistering 58.6% (17-of-29) from the floor in the second half … York went 7-for-12 (58.3%) from three in the second half … York is now 10-2 when shooting better than 35% from three … York dished out 21 assists and had just eight turnovers in the win as they are now 10-5 when having a plus assist to turnover ratio … the eight turnovers a season low for the Spartans and it's the second time this year that they have had single digit turnovers (9 vs. PSU Harrisburg on Jan. 25) … York drained 11 threes as the Spartans have reached double figures in three pointers made eight times this year including four of their last five games … York finished the game with 12 steals as they have reached double figures in steals eight times this year including their last three straight games … freshman Jared Wagner tallied a career-high 14 points while he also had a career-high five steals … Wagner now leads the Spartans and the Capital Athletic Conference with 55 steals, an average of 2.3 per game … Wagner ranks sixth on the single-season steals list as he is one back of Jason Saurbaugh (56) for fifth place and four steals back of Jeff Mann (59) in fourth … freshman Darin Gordon dished out a career-high five assists while he also had eight rebounds which is one short of tying his career high (9 vs. Marymount on Jan. 4) … junior Matt Scamuffo reached 20-plus points or more for the sixth time this year with his 26 points … Scamuffo was highly efficient as he was 8-for-13 including 3-for-7 from three and 7-for-8 from the free throw line … Scamuffo and Blayde Reich each went 7-for-8 from the free throw line … sophomore Jason Bady had a pair of dunks in the win as he leads the squad in flushes this season … the Spartans held Tyler Michael, who entered the game leading the CAC in scoring at 16.7 points per game, to just seven points on 3-of-10 shooting from the floor … Michael has not fared well against York has he has totaled eight points in two games against the Green and White … in two games against York, Michael was 3-for-16 from the floor, 1-for-4 from three and 1-for-2 from the line in 57 minutes of play … the Spartans' 52 point second half was their largest scoring second half of the year, beating their previous best of 47 against Salisbury (Jan. 14) … York got 22 points off the 18 Frostburg turnovers.
The Spartans conclude the 2017-18 regular season with a game against nationally ranked Christopher Newport University. The Spartans will honor seniors Brad Wesner and Alex Colton prior to the 3:00 pm scheduled tip-off.
