York senior forward Paul Kouvaris (Baltimore, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) was selected as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 19.5 points and shooting 56% from the field in a pair of victories, extending YCP's win streak to a season-high six games.
Kouvaris began his week with an outstanding 22 point effort against Frostburg State University. The senior scored 14 of the Spartans' first 20 points as the Spartans got off to a strong start. He finished the game 8-of-15 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the free throw line. Kouvaris pulled in three rebounds and handed out there assists in his 33 minutes of work in the win.
Against Hood, Kouvaris tallied 17 points and pulled in five rebounds as the Spartans earned their sixth straight win. He was 6-for-10 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. He also had a steal, a blocked shot and one assist.
For the season, Kouvaris is averaging 16.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He is shooting 56.3% from the floor and 72.7% from the free throw line. He is tied for the CAC lead in scoring.
