YORK, Pa. – York College men's basketball sophomore guard Michael Oursler has been named the latest Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week. This is his first time being receiving the honor in his career, as he garners the award after helping the Spartans to two wins last week.
Oursler averaged 15 points over York's pair of Capital Athletic Conference contests, which included a career-high 20 on Wednesday evening.
Oursler's career night Wednesday came against visiting Stevenson as the Green and White posted a commanding 91-52 triumph over the Mustangs. Receiving the first start of his career, Oursler did not disappoint as he shot a blistering 6-for-7 from the three and 7-for-8 overall in 25 minutes of work.
On Saturday's trip to CAC foe Mary Washington, Oursler logged a season-high 31 minutes en route to a ten-point performance. The sophomore went 4-for-10 from the floor and canned a pair of triples in the Spartans' 76-70 victory over the Eagles.
For the season, Oursler has played in 20 of York's 23 contests and is averaging 7.0 points per game. More recently however, the guard has posted point-totals of 15, 20, and 10 over York's previous three games, for an average of 15 points per contest.
Oursler and the Spartans, who currently sit third in the CAC with a 15-8 overall record and a 9-5 in-conference mark, return to action on Wednesday, February 16. The Green and White are slated to travel to Dover, Del. for an 8:00 pm CAC tilt with second-place Wesley.
