YORK, PA - York College senior guard Kevin Whaley led the Spartans to a perfect 2-0 start in the CAC to earn the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The Spartans got off to a hot conference start as they downed Wesley and Marymount to begin their CAC season.
Whaley began the week with a career-high tying 27 points against the Wolverines. He was 8-for-13 from the floor, 4-for-5 from three and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. He also pulled in six rebounds, had one assist and one blocked shot in his 36 minutes of action. In the win at Marymount, Whaley had 18 points in just 20 minutes of play. He was 6-for-9 from the floor, 3-for-3 from three and 3-for-5 from the line. He contributed four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists in the victory.
For the week, Whaley averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in 56 minutes of play. He shot 63.6% (14-for-22) from the floor, a sizzling 87.5% (7-for-8) from three, and 83.3% (10-for-12) from the free throw line.
This is the second time Whaley has been honored by the conference. He was the CAC Player of the Week for November 22.
