YORK, PA - Following an outstanding week, York College men's basketball senior guard Nick Brady (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) captures Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week honors for his three-game performance from November 16-22. Brady led the Spartans to a pair of tournament titles to open the 2009-2010 campaign with a 4-0 mark.
Against perennial powershouse Catholic University on Monday's White Rose City Classic Championship game Brady poured in 20 points to pace the Spartans' 82-76 overtime victory. The senior went a flawless 8-for-8 from the free throw line while grabbing seven rebounds, all of which were of the defensive variety, against Catholic's exceptionally talented frontcourt.
This past weekend, the Spartans captured the Mt. Aloysius Coaches vs. Cancer Classic title to move to 4-0. In the opener against Washington & Jefferson, Brady scored a season-high 26 points on an efficient 11-for-16 from the field, including 4-of-8 from deep, while pulling down seven more caroms as the Spartans cruised to an 80-56 triumph.
Brady tallied 16 points in York's tournament championship win over host Mount Aloysius. The Spartan captain shot 6-for11 from the floor while canning both of his attempts from the charity stripe.
For the week, Brady averaged 20.7 points per game and shot 56.4 percent from the field, while making each of his ten free throws.
Led by Brady, Green and White are off to their first 4-0 start since the 2005-2006 season when they began the campaign 5-0. York will look to stretch this season's mark to 5-0 on Tuesday, November 24, when they host Gettysburg in an 8:00 p.m. non-conference tilt.
