Brady and Sparkman earn d3hoops.com Accolades

YORK, PA – The York College basketball programs received good news on Tuesday as a pair of Spartans earned post-season accolades as announced by d3hoops.com.

Senior men’s guard Nick Brady (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) earned second team All-Middle Atlantic region accolades while junior women’s guard April Sparkman (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) also notched second team All-Atlantic Region honors.

Brady earned CAC Player of the Year honors earlier in March as he continues to add to his post-season honors. He finished his senior season averaging 20.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He shot 47.2% from the floor, 41.3% from three and 84.7% from the free throw line. Brady reached double figures in every game this year with 13 20-plus point games and three 30-plus point games. He recorded a career-high 36 points in the January 20 win at Mary Washington.

Brady is all over the CAC statistical leaders. He finished the season first in free throw percentage, first in three point field goals made, second in scoring, third in defensive rebounds, fourth in three point field goal percentage, eighth in rebounding, and 14th in field goal percentage.

Brady was a two-year Spartan captain and closed out his career as one of eight Spartans to reach 1,500 career points. He finished his 104-game career with 1,524 points, 552 rebounds, 158 assists, and 87 steals. He was a 44.9% career shooter from the floor, 39.6% from three and 77.5% from the free throw line. Brady canned 218 threes in his career including 76 during his senior year.

Sparkman finished the season averaging a team-best 17.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. She converted 35 three point field goals and shot 74.3% from the free throw line.

Sparkman finished third in the CAC in scoring, third in free throw percentage, fourth in three point field goals made, fifth in rebounding, sixth in assists, sixth in three point field goal percentage, eighth in blocked shots, 14th in field goal percentage, and first in minutes played.

Sparkman reached double figures in all but one game during the year while she had 10 20-plus point performances in addition to recorded a new career-high with 33 points in the February 17 win at Stevenson.

Sparkman reached a career milestone in the January 30 win over Hood as she became the 13th member of the York College 1,000 career point club. Sparkman enters her senior year with 1,145 career points while she has already eclipsed 500 career rebounds as she is at 553 for her career.

Sparkman is a two-time d3hoops.com honoree last year as she earned third-team honors.
