    The York College athletic department celebrated the 2009-2010 academic year in style on Friday evening at the Spartans’ annual athletics banquet. Each of the Green and White’s 20 varsity teams, in addition to York’s cheerleading squad, as well as administrators and staff attended the gala event.

  • Brady Named NABC All-American

    Senior guard Nick Brady became the second Spartan to earn NABC State Farm Division III All-American accolades as the teams were announced Wednesday night. Brady earned third team national accolades, capping his outstanding 2009-10 Spartan campaign.

    The York College basketball programs received good news on Tuesday as a pair of Spartans earned post-season accolades as announced by d3hoops.com. Senior men’s guard Nick Brady earned second team All-Middle Atlantic region accolades while junior women’s guard April Sparkman also notched second team All-Atlantic Region honors.

    York College men’s basketball senior Nick Brady was named the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Year as the post-season conference awards were announced on Tuesday. Brady, who was also a first-team selection, was joined on the all-conference squad by junior guard Kevin Whaley who was tabbed as a second-team selection.
  • Red Hot Wesley Ends Stellar Spartan Campaign

    The York College men's basketball team ran into a red hot Wesley College squad on Thursday night in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament semifinals at Charles Wolf Gymnasium. The Wolverines posted a 94-81 win as they advance to face top seeded St. Mary's in the tournament championship game Saturday at 2:00 pm. The Spartans end their season with a mark of 19-7.
  • Athletic Department Announces Men's Basketball CAC Ticket Policy

    The York College athletic department has announced the presale ticket policy for Thursday’s Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball tournament semifinal contest. The Spartans are the tournament’s second seed and hold a bye in Tuesday’s opening round. Tip time for Thursday’s semifinal contest has been set for 7:00 pm.
  • Spartan Victory Secures First Round Bye

    The York College men’s basketball team did what they had to do on Sunday afternoon as they posted a 83-70 Capital Athletic Conference victory at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. The win secures the second seed for the Spartans as they will now host the winner of the Wesley College – Salisbury University first round game in Thursday's CAC Tournament semifinal.

    The York College men's basketball team dropped an 82-63 decision at St. Mary's College on Saturday afternoon in St. Mary's City, MD. The 17th ranked Seahawks improve to 21-3 overall and 13-2 in the CAC as they lock up the conference's regular season championship. York falls to 18-6 overall and 10-5 in the league. The Spartans can still secure the CAC's second seed with a win Sunday at Gallaudet.

    The York College men's basketball team put a disappointing loss to Mary Washington in the rear view mirror as they downed Stevenson University 87-67 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night in Stevenson, Md. The Spartans improve to 18-5 overall and 10-4 in the CAC.
  • Men's Hoops Rally Falls Short in Overtime

    The York College men's basketball team did something it hasn't done all season as the Mary Washington Eagles handed the Spartans a 74-71 home loss in overtime on Saturday. The loss spoiled the Senior Day festivities for the Spartans who fall to 17-5 overall and 9-4 in the CAC. The Eagles kept their CAC playoff hopes alive as they improve to 8-12 overall and 5-7 in the league.

    The York College men's basketball team dug down deep to pull out a 67-64 Capital Athletic Conference win over Marymount University on Wednesday night in York. The Spartans trailed by as many as nine with over 11 minutes left in the game but came back outscoring the Saints 20-11 over the final 8:15 of the game to secure the win. York improves to 16-4 overall and 8-3 in the hotly contested CAC.

The Spartans shot 66.7% from the floor in the first half as they withstood a strong push by Hood in the second half to pick up their 15th victory of the year. York improves to 7-3 in the CAC with the win.

    The York College men’s basketball team will participate in the nation-wide Coaches vs. Cancer Suites and Sneakers Awareness Weekend on Saturday when they host Hood College at Wolf Gymnasium. Participating NABC member coaches will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their suits during weekend games to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society. Spartan basketball fans are also encouraged to wear their suits and sneakers to Saturday's game.

Detrick in Frederick, MD. The Spartans improve to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the CAC while the Blazers fall to 8-5 and 3-1 in the league.

    Sophomore forward Paul Kouvaris was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 20 as announced by the conference office on Monday morning. Kouvaris led the 9-1 Spartans to a victory over Wesley last Monday night to earn the award.
