“This is going to be an exciting event, a great night for our campus,” Assistant Dean of Athletics and Recreation Sean Sullivan said. “We want to create a great deal of energy and Spartan spirit as we head into the end of fall sports and the beginning of winter athletics. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
In the tradition of midnight madnesses throughout the country both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will receive exciting introductions as they kick-off their 2008-09 seasons.
“Our guys are definitely excited to be part of the festivities,” Spartan men’s basketball head coach Jeff Gamber said. “They are pumped for this event Friday night.”
"I am looking forward to Midnight Madness," men's basketball junior guard Nick Brady said. "Anytime I get to look around and see the great fans of York supporting our team, how can't I get a little juiced up!"
Students will also have the opportunity to compete in numerous basketball contests, while the cheerleading and dance teams will also perform.
“We want the entire York College community to get involved in and get excited about Midnight Madness,” Sullivan said. “Then to have that energy carry over throughout the rest of the school year would be a great thing for not only the individual teams and the athletic department but also the entire campus.”
"So come out and get excited about 2008-2009 season," women's basketball senior guard Amanda Andrews said. "You can win awesome prizes and even compete against some of the players!"
