YORK, PA – The York College men’s basketball team received outstanding news Tuesday afternoon as junior guard Nick Brady (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and freshman guard Julian Watson (Odenton, Md./Arundel) each garnered Capital Athletic Conference accolades for their respective performances during the 2008-2009 campaign. Brady was chosen to the conference’s second-team while Watson was selected as the CAC’s Co-Rookie-of-the-Year along with Marymount's Tarek Ammoury.
    Brady, who was the conference’s 2007 Rookie-of-the-Year, makes his first appearance on the All-CAC squad after posting his best season to date. He led the Spartans in scoring with an average of 17.3 points per game, which proved to be the fifth-highest mark in the CAC. The junior poured in team-high 449 points on the year and was the Spartans’ high scorer in 16 of 26 games. Brady notched his 1,000th career-point in York’s CAC tournament quarterfinal against Mary Washington, finishing the year with 1,003. The 19th member of the Spartans’ 1000th point club concluded his junior campaign shooting 43.3% from the field, 35.5% from beyond the arc, and 75.7% from the free throw line, the seventh-best mark in the CAC.
Aside from his scoring prowess, the 6’2” guard also led the Spartans in rebounding at 6.7 caroms per contest, ranking him among the top-ten glass-cleaners in the conference, while pacing the Green and White with 1.1 steals per game.
    Watson proved a welcome addition to the Spartan roster as he cracked the starting lineup right from the outset. A true point guard with terrific ball-handling skills, Watson quickly became one of the Spartans’ most valuable assets. He led the Green and White with 950 minutes played this season for an average of 36.5 minutes per contest, the fourth-highest mark in the CAC. Watson responded well to the challenge of playing heavy minutes as a rookie posting a 1.3-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, the sixth-best ratio in the conference. The point guard dished-out a team-high 82 assists as his 3.2 helper average ranked eighth in the CAC. He poured-in 11.8 points per game, the third-highest average on the team and the 16th-best in the conference. Watson shot 46.4% from the field, 35.9% from deep, and 71.3% from the charity stripe. Defensively, Watson was second on the team with a steal per game while averaging 3.1 rebounds.
    With Brady and Watson headlining a group nine letter-winners who will return to the Green and White next season, the Spartans could prove to be one of the CAC’s most dangerous squads.
