Spartan Golfers Finish 6th at Lynchburg Invitational

AMHERST, VIRGINIA – The York College golf squad concluded their first spring tournament of the spring semester as the Spartans finished sixth of nine teams at the Lynchburg College Invitational on Monday in Amherst, VA.

York's Top Performers – Par 72 – 144 total

4. Tyler Newton – 73 / 76 / 149 (+5)

T27. Brandon Hur – 82 / 80 / 162 (+18)

T33. Ryan Wolbach – 84 / 81 / 165 (+21)

Notes:

The Spartans improved their day one score by five strokes but still dropped one spot in the standings as Averett made a 13 stroke improvement from their day one score as they leapt over the Spartans for fifth place … Tyler Newton led the Spartans for the second day in a row as he shot a team best four-over-par 76 as he finished with a two day total of 149, just one shot out of a four way tie for first place … Brandon Hur and Tyler Keim both fired an eight-over-par 80 … That was a two stroke improvement for Her and a nine stroke improvement for Keim over their scores on Sunday … Ryan Wolbach fired an 81 to round out York's top scorers on Monday … Newton shot a two-over-par 38 on the front and a two over 36 on the back for the 76 … Newton did not have a birdie in the round while he had four bogeys … Hur fired a 39 on the front including a a birdie on two while he shot 41 on the back with a birdie on 16 … Keim was sensational on the back nine as he shot a one-over-par 37 including birdies on 16 and 18.  

 

What's Next:

The Spartans return to action on Sunday, April 3 when the Green and White head to Hershey Country Club to participate in the 2016 Hershey Cup for the prestigious two-day tournament. The Spartans tee off at 9:30 am on Sunday morning.
