Spartans Finish Tenth at Hershey Cup

HERSHEY, PA – The York College golf squad finished day two of the prestigious Hershey Cup tenth out of 15 teams on a very rainy and raw Monday in Hershey, PA.

The Spartans were one of just four teams to improve on their day one score as York shot a team score of 324, two strokes better than Sunday's performance. The Green and White moved up two spots as they passed Gettysburg and Susquehanna to finish tenth.

McDaniel College shot a tournament best 300 on Monday as they won the team score by ten strokes over St. John Fisher. The Green Terror won the championship with a total score of 606. McDaniel entered Monday in third place but cruised to the victory with Monday's impressive round.

Allegheny finished third at 311 while Franklin & Marshall, the first round leader, shot 20 strokes worse on Monday to fall to fourth place at 622. Washington & Jefferson rounded out the top five with a team score of 625.

Junior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) led the Spartans as he fired a seven-over-par 78, matching his day one total. Boslough finished tied for 16th in the 81-player field. Sophomore Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) improved on his day one score as he shot an 81. Wolbach finished tied for 46th with his 164.

Senior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) finished the tournament tied for 51st as he shot an 85 on Monday, finishing with a two-day total of 165. Freshman Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) was York's fourth finisher as he placed two strokes back of Long with a 167 after shooting an 82 on Monday. Wagner's 82 was a three-stroke improvement on his Sunday score.

Sophomore Tyler Keim (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) was the Spartans' final participant as he shot an 83 on Monday, a four stroke improvement over Sunday. Keim finished with a two day total of 170 to place tied for 69th.

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to the Alvernia Invitational. The tournament is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
