HERSHEY, PA – The York College Spartans finished fourth of 20 teams at the 2014 Elizabethtown College Spring Blue Jay Classic on a rainy Thursday afternoon at the East Course of the Hershey Country Club.
The Spartans finished with a team score of 308, as they were five strokes behind third place McDaniel. Messiah won the event with a team score of 289 while Franklin & Marshall finished second at 296.
York was led by freshman Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) as he carded a four-over-par 75. Wagner shot a three-over 39 on the front nine while he was one over on the back as he finished the tournament tied for 10th.
Sophomore Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) finished with a six-over-par 77 as he finished tied for 19th in the 105-player field. Wolbach shot a 40 on the front nine and a 37 on the back. He did card a pair of birdies on the round as he notched a four on the par five sixth hole and a three on the par four 17th hole.
Junior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) and senior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) rounded out the Spartan scorers as they each shot a seven-over 78 to tie for 25th. Boslough shot 39 on both the front and on the back with birdies on the par four fifth and the par three 13th hole. Long also shot 39 on both sides as he birdied the par five 14th and the par four 17th hole.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday when they participate in the two-day Hershey Cup at the Hershey Country Club.
