HARRISBURG, PA – York College senior golfer Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Thomas) opened his year in impressive fashion as he recorded his fifth career tournament victory, winning the PSU Harrisburg Fall Invitational on Tuesday at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club in Harrisburg, PA.
Long fired a three-under-par 68, winning the tournament by three strokes over the second place finisher. One of the highlights for Long came when he eagled the 491-yard par 5 fifth hole.
Overall, the Spartans tied Albright for the team title but the Lions were awarded the team championship due to the fifth golfer score. Both teams fired a team total of 303. The Spartans also had a "B" squad participate and those five Spartans combined to finish fourth as a team with a score of 321.
Junior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) played well for York as he fired a three-over-par 74. Sophomore Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) was York's third scorer, firing a 79 for the Green and White. Freshman Anthony Wagner (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) was York's fourth scorer for the first team as he finished with an 82. Sophomore Austin Parker (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) rounded out the starting lineup with an 85.
For the "B" squad, senior Matt Storck (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) played well as he shot 79. Junior Josh Strausbaugh (Orlando, Fla./Lake Howell) and freshman Ale Colton (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) each shot 80 while senior Travis Oot (Kirkville, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) and sophomore Tyler Keim (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) each shot 82 for the Spartans.
The Spartans will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Blue Ridge Country Club to participate in the Messiah College Fall Invitational. The tournament starts at 12:00 pm.
