DOVER, DEL – The York College golf squad had a very good first day at the 2013 Capital Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at Wild Quail Golf & Country Club in Dover, Delaware. The Spartans have a 10-stroke day one lead as they fired a team total of 304 on Saturday. Wesley stands second with a score of 314 while Marymount is third at 322.
Freshman Tyler Keim (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) led the Spartans on day one as he tied for second with a two-over-par 74. He sits four strokes back of tournament leader Mason Mendoza from Wesley and is tied with Marymount's Peter Johns. Keim fired a 39 on the front and then covered the back in just 35.
Junior standout Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) is one stroke back of Keim as Long shot 75. Long carded a front nine 37 and came back to the clubhouse in 38.
Travis Oot (Kirkville, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) was the Spartans' third scorer as he sits sixth with a four-over-par 76. Freshman Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) was York's fourth scorer as he shot 79 which leaves him all alone in eighth place.
The Spartans will look for a second Capital Athletic Conference tournament with a solid day on Sunday. The Spartans last captured the 2009 CAC title at Piney Branch Golf Club in Hampstead, Md. The tournament resumes at 9:00 am on Sunday morning.
