HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad finished 10th of 15 teams at the two-day Penn State Harrisburg Fall Classic at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg, Pa.
The Spartans shot a two day total of 624 as they shot 317 on Friday followed by a 307 on Saturday.
Franklin & Marshall won the tournament championship with a total score of 590 while Albright was second at 591. Messiah was one stroke back of the Lions at 592 while Stevenson was fourth, just three strokes out of first at 593. Elmira rounded out the top five with a team score of 602.
Junior Kevin Long (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) was fantastic for the Spartans as he was four-under-par for the two days as he shot identical two-under-par 70's. Long finished tied for second, two strokes back of individual champion Matt Burkhart from Messiah. The second place finish earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team.
Freshman Tyler Keim (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) shot a total of 157 as the first-year Spartan shot an 81 on Friday followed by four-over-par 76 on Saturday. Fellow frosh Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) was six strokes back of Keim as he shot a 163 with an 82 on Friday and an 81 on Saturday.
Junior Matthew Storck (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) rounded out the Spartan scorers with a score of 164. Storck shot an 84 on Friday and an 80 on Saturday.
The Spartans, who are now 30-15 for the fall campaign, return to action on Thursday, October 4 when they travel to the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Fall Classic.
