MOOSIC, PA – The York College golf team shot a season-best 294 during the second round of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, PA. The scorching day two score left York in third, 11 strokes back of team champion Scranton. McDaniel finished three strokes in front of York for second in the tournament.
The Spartans' day two score was seven strokes better than Moravian but York's day one score of 320 left them sixth after the first day of competition.
Sophomore Kevin Long paced the Spartans with a two-day total of 152 as he tied for seventh in the tournament. He carded a six-over-par 77 on Sunday and followed that with a four-over-par 75 on Monday.
Freshman David Boslough finished a combined 11-over as he shot a 153. Boslough carded an 81 on Sunday but rebounded nicely with a one-over-par 72 on Monday. Senior Andrew Schmehl was also outstanding on Monday as he tied Boslough for the team lead with a 72 of his own. Schmehl made a 10 stroke improvement from Sunday to Monday as he began the tournament with an 82.
Senior Adam Dupler was the fourth Spartan finisher in the tournament as he tallied a two-day total of 161 which tied him for 27th in the 45-player field. Dupler shot 86 for day one but played well on Monday as he shot a 75.
Sophomore Travis Oot was York's fifth player in the tournament as he shot a combined 164, carding an 80 on Sunday and 84 on Monday.
The Spartans will compete in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament starting on Friday in Dover, Delaware. The two-day championship starts at 9:30 am on Friday morning.
