Golfers Finish Sixth at Elizabethtown Spring Classic

HERSHEY, PA – The York College golf squad finished tied for sixth at the 2012 Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Spring Classic at the Hershey Country Club East Course on Thursday afternoon in Hershey, PA. The Spartans shot a team score of 334, 12 strokes back of team champion Stevenson. Messiah finished second followed by Moravian, Albright, and Elizabethtown.

The Spartans were led by sophomore standout Kevin Long as he shot a nine-over-par 80, tying him for ninth in the 96-player tournament. Travis Oot finished two strokes back of Long as he shot an 82 to finish tied for 19th place.

Freshman David Boslough tied for 33rd as he shot an 85 for the Spartans. Senior Adam Burkhart was the final Spartan scorer as he shot an 87 to tie for 49th.

The Spartans are now 64-36-2 for the season. York returns to action on April 11 when they travel to the Gettysburg Spring Invitational. The tournament is slated for a noon start at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Pa.
