Golf Sits Second After Day One of PSU-Harrisburg Invite

HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad stands second after the first day of the eight-team 2011 Penn State – Harrisburg Fall Classic at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg, PA. The Spartans shot a team score of 303, which left them one stroke back of first round leader Messiah College as the Falcons shot a team score of 302.

Senior Adam Dupler posted a team-best one-under-par 71 as he sits a stroke back of first-round leader Matt Burkhart of Messiah. Senior Adam Burkhart was the next Spartan scorer as he shot a four-over-par 76 as he is currently tied for seventh. Fellow senior Andrew Schmehl shot an opening round 77, as he stands tied for 11th.  Sophomore Kevin Long was the fourth Spartan scorer as he carded a seven-over-par 79, tying him for 20th place in the 51-player field.

The tournament is slated to resume on Saturday morning at 8:30 am at Dauphin Highlands.
