GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College men's golf squad finished seventh of nine full teams at the 2011 Gettysburg Fall Invitational at The Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, PA on Thursday afternoon. The Spartans shot a season-high 329, one stroke out of sixth and five strokes back of fifth place. Marymount won the team championship with a score of 310, as the Saints captured the event by five strokes over PSU-Harrisburg.
The Spartans were led by senior Adam Dupler as the left-hander carded a five-over-par 77, good for a seventh place tie. Fellow senior Adam Burkhart finished two strokes back of Dupler with a 79. Burkhart tied for 13th with his score.
Sophomore Kevin Long, coming off a fifth place finish at Monday's Bent Creek Invitational, shot an 85 as he placed 31st in the 55-player tournament field. Sophomore Travis Oot was the Spartans' fourth scorer as he shot an 88 to tie for 37th.
Freshman Tyler Rhines, playing as an individual in the tournament, shot an 80 to tie for 18th.
The Spartans return to action on Friday afternoon when they begin competing at the two-day PSU-Harrisburg Invitational. The tournament is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
