HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad closed out their 2010-2011 season on a strong note as they tied for second at the Messiah College Falcon Spring Classic at Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg, PA. The Spartans finished with a team score of 323 to tie with Muhlenberg for second, one stroke back of team champion Albright. FDU-Florham finished fourth and Stevenson placed fifth to round out the top five squads.
The Spartans used a team effort led by the tandem of Travis Oot and Andrew Schmehl as they both carded an eight-over-par 80 to tie for 10th place in the 94-player field. Freshman Kevin Long finished one stroke behind Oot and Schmehl as he shot an 81 as he tied for 16th place.
Junior Adam Dupler was the fourth Spartan scorer in the tournament as he carded an 82 to tie for 21st.
The Spartans finished the season with an overall record of 102-40-6. The Green and White won two tournaments while they also recorded four runner-up finishes during the year. York finished the spring season averaging 317 strokes per round in their nine 2011 rounds.
The Spartans return all of their top seven players next year as the 2011-12 season is full of promise for the Green and White.
