YORK, Pa. - York College freshman golfer Kevin Long has been selected as the most recent Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week following his stellar performance on the course last week. Long posted an individual triumph at the Ursinus Invitational as he led the Green and White to a team title at the event, while he posted a fourth-place finish at Franklin & Marshall
Last Tuesday, Long captured the individual triumph at the Ursinus Invitational with a one-over-par 71 at Stonewall Golf Club - North Course. He topped second-place Jordan Carpentar of Muhlenberg by four strokes. Long's performance led the Spartans to their second team title of the season as York posted a 313, one stroke better than Muhlenberg.
At Monday's Bent Creek Invitational, Long registered a fourth-place finish with a three-over-par 74. That finish helped the Green and White take second at the Franklin & Marshall-hosted tournament.
For the season, Long owns the team scoring lead as his average is down to 78.8. His 71 is also the lowest score registered by a Spartan this year as he owns three of the five lowest rounds of the year for the Green and White.
Long and the Spartans wrap up the 2010-2011 campaign on Tuesday, April 26, as they travel to the Messiah College Spring Invitational. Tee time is slated for 12:30 pm.
