HERSHEY, PA – The York College golf squad finished eighth at the 13-team Elizabethtown Invitational on Thursday. The Spartans carded a team score of 345 as they finished 23 strokes behind tournament champion Franklin & Marshall.
The Spartans were paced by Adam Burkhart as the senior finished ninth as he shot an eight-over-par 80. Burkhart carded a front-side 41 and completed the round with a 39 on the back.
Junior Andrew Schmehl was the next Spartan finisher as he shot an 85. He was followed by fellow junior Adam Dupler as the Spartans' lefty shot an 89. Adam Steller was the final scorer for the Spartans as he shot 91.
York had two players finish in the top 25 but not count towards the team score as Jackson Terman and Travis Oot each played well for York. Terman finished tied for 17th as he shot an 82 while Oot carded an 83 to finish tied for 21st. Terman and Oot played as individuals in the tournament.
The Spartans, who are now 21-10-3 for the campaign, return to action on Monday when they travel to Lancaster, PA to participate in the Franklin & Marshall Bent Creek Invitational. The shotgun start is scheduled for 12:30 pm
