Spartans Finish Second at LVC Invitational
LEBANON, PA – The York College golf squad continued their hot start to the 2009 fall season with a second place finish at the 22 school Lebanon Valley College Fall Invitational at Lebanon Valley Country Club in Lebanon, PA.
The Spartans shot a team total of 309 to finish two strokes back of team champion Albright. Messiah finished third at 311 while Franklin & Marshall placed fourth. Cabrini and Stevenson tied for fifth at 314.
The Spartans were led by sophomore Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) as the right-hander shot a one-over-par 73 to finish tied for fourth in the 116-player field. Sophomore Adam Dupler (York Haven, Pa./Red Land) and senior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) each carded a five-over-par 77’s as they tied for 14th. Sophomore Adam Burkhart (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) was the Spartans’ fourth scorer as he shot an 82, good for a tie for 41st.
Sophomore Gage Weaver (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) was York’s final starter as he shot an 89.
The Spartans, who are now 32-1, return to
action on October 1 at the Messiah Invitational. The tournament is
slated for a 12:00 pm start.
