Schmehl Selected as Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week

YORK, PA – York College golfer Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) has been named Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week for his play at the CAC tournament championships, which earned the sophomore Co-CAC Player of the year Accolades.

Schmehl opened the championships with a tournament record 69 to tie Chris Osberg, the 2008 CAC Player of the Year, for first place in the tournament. Both players shot a two-over-par 146 to earn CAC Co-Player of the Year award. Schmehl shot 77 on Sunday as he also earned All-CAC accolades for his second straight season.

The Spartan sophomore also had success earlier in the season when he won the PSU-Harrisburg Spring Classic event as he shot a total of 146. The sophomore shot a pair of one-over-par 73's as he captured the win by two strokes.

The Green and Whites season came to a close with the conference championships. The Spartans finished second at the championships, unable to repeat on last season's championship.
