Schmehl Selected as Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week
YORK, PA – York College golfer Andrew Schmehl
(Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) has been named Spartan
Athlete-of-the-Week for his play at the CAC tournament
championships, which earned the sophomore Co-CAC Player of the year
Accolades.
Schmehl opened the championships with a tournament record 69 to
tie Chris Osberg, the 2008 CAC Player of the Year, for first place
in the tournament. Both players shot a two-over-par 146 to earn CAC
Co-Player of the Year award. Schmehl shot 77 on Sunday as he also
earned All-CAC accolades for his second straight season.
The Spartan sophomore also had success earlier in the season when
he won the PSU-Harrisburg Spring Classic event as he shot a total
of 146. The sophomore shot a pair of one-over-par 73's as he
captured the win by two strokes.
The Green and Whites season came to a close with the conference
championships. The Spartans finished second at the championships,
unable to repeat on last season's championship.
