HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad closed out their 2010 regular season with a fourth place finish at the 12-school Messiah College Falcon Classic at Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg, PA. The Spartans shot a team score 326 to finish 17 strokes back of the host Falcons as Messiah won the title with a score of 309. Franklin & Marshall shot 312 to finish second while Dickinson shot 315 to finish third. Albright rounded out the top five with a score of 329.
Sophomore Adam Dupler (York Haven, Pa./Red Land) continued to gear up to defend his Capital Athletic Conference tournament championship by shooting a 78. That tied him for tenth with fellow sophomore Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) as they both finished six-over-par. Dupler had the highlight of the day as he aced the 190-yard par three 13th hole. Dupler pulled off the feat with a dead eye six iron.
Senior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) shot a 12-over-par 84 to finish tied for 28th in the 69-player tournament field. Seth Shober (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) was the final Spartan scorer as he tied for 38th with a 14-over-par 86.
The Spartans now head to the Capital Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Piney Branch Golf Club in Hampstead, Md. The Spartans are the defending champions after cruising to the title in 2009.
