HARRISBURG, PA – The York College golf squad captured their third tournament title of the year as they won the two-day Penn State-Harrisburg Spring Classic on Monday afternoon at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club in Harrisburg, PA. The Spartans fired a team total of 609, besting the host Lions by 10 strokes. Stevenson finished third at 622 while Elizabethtown was fourth in the six-team tournament.
Spartan Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) won the event as he shot a total of 146. The sophomore shot a pair of one-over-par 73’s as he captured the win by two strokes over Stevenson’s Matt Lukehart. It was is his first collegiate win as his highest previous finish was his second place finish at last spring’s Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational on April 19.
Senior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) finished tied for fourth as he carded a first-day 76 and a second-day 77 to record a total score of 153. Sophomore Adam Dupler (York Haven, Pa./Red Land) recorded a top ten of his own as he tied for seventh with a total of 154. Dupler shot 79 on Sunday and followed that with a solid 75 on Monday afternoon.
Sophomore Adam Burkhart (Landisville, Pa./Hemfield) was the fourth scorer for the Green and White as he shot a 156. Burkhart shot an 80 on Sunday while he was four strokes better on Monday as he carded a 76.
The Spartans play their final tournament before the Capital Athletic Conference championships as they travel to the Messiah College Invitational on Tuesday, April 20.
