Schmehl Named CAC Co-Golf Athlete of the Week
YORK, PA – York College freshman
Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) has been
selected as one of two Capital Athletic Conference Golf Athletes of
the Week for his two-tournament performance. Schmehl, who captures
his first CAC weekly accolade, is joined in the honor by Wesley
junior Rob Zimmerer.
Schmehl began his week with a five-over-par 76
at the Bent Creek Invitational. Hosted by Franklin and Marshall,
Schmehl’s 76 allowed him to tie for 11th place in the
82-player event.
The Spartan rookie then led the Green and White
to their second victory of the spring campaign. Schmehl turned in a
three-over-par 74 at the Glenmaura National College Invitational,
hosted by Kings College, as he tied for second in the 58-player
field.
Schmehl and the Spartans will now embark on the
CAC Championship Tournament this weekend, April 25 and 26. York
will travel to Baltimore, Md. and the Piney Branch Golf Club, with
tee-time slated for noon on Saturday.
