Spartans Place Sixth at Messiah Classic

PALMERTON, PA – The York College golf
team landed in sixth place in the Messiah College Falcon Classic
Wednesday afternoon at the Blue Ridge Country Club. The Spartans
carded a 38-over-par 326 as a team, placing them sixth out of the
16 teams that finished the tournament. Rutgers-Camden won the
Classic with a 14-over-par 302.
Freshman Adam Dupler (York Haven, Pa./Red Land),
the reigning Capital Athletic Conference Golfer-of-the-Week, led
the Spartan side with a five-over-par 77. Dupler finished tied for
tenth in individual play.
Fellow rookie Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca,
N.J.) carded an 81 to tie for 22nd. Senior
Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright)
and junior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York)
each shot 12-over-par 84s as they finished the day tied for 36th.
Senior Jimmy DeCastro (Mantoloking, N.J./Governor
Livingston) rounded out the Spartan scoring with a +16,
88.
Senior Justin Heisler (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring
Grove) equaled Schmehl as he also shot 81 for the day, but
his score did not factor into York’s total for the day.
The green and white return to the course on Monday, October 6 for
the Franklin and Marshall Fall Invitational. Tee-time is slated for
1:00 pm.
