Spartan Golfers Finish Third at 21-Team LVC Invite

LEBANON, PA-The York College golf squad
finished third at Monday’s 21-team Lebanon Valley College
Fall Invitational at the par 72 Lebanon Country Club. The Spartans
carded a team score of 298 and won the match of fifth player scores
for third with Rutgers-Camden as the Scarlet Raiders also fired a
298. Cabrini won the event with a score of 295 while Franklin &
Marshall placed second with a score of 297. The tournament featured
107 golfers.
The Spartans were led by freshman Adam Dupler (York Haven,
Pa./Red Land) as he carded a one-under-par 71. That score
allowed Dupler to finish second on a match of cards. Junior
Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) finished
three strokes back of Dupler as he carded a 74, good for a tie for
11th. Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton
Wright) also played well for York as he shot a three-over
75. That placed Bernard in a tie for 19th. Senior
Jimmy DeCastro (Mantoloking, N.J./Governor
Livingston) rounded out the Spartans’ top four
performers as he shot a 78, good for a tie for 33rd.
Freshman Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca,
N.J.) was the fifth Spartan starter and his eight-over-par
80 allowed the Spartans to win the tiebreaker for the second place
team finish. His 80 was three strokes better than
Rutgers-Camden’s Dan Drazen in a match of the fifth man
score.
The Spartans are now 28-2 overall in two tournaments. The green
and white travels to the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Fall Classic on
Thursday afternoon. The tournament is slated to tee-off at 12:00
pm.
