GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College golf squad finished second at Tuesday’s Gettysburg College Spring Invitational held at the Links of Gettysburg. The Spartans finished with a team score of 317, which deadlocked them with Messiah and Susquehanna until the Spartans were awarded second due to their fifth player score. McDaniel won the team title with a score of 302. Gettysburg and Keystone rounded out the top five as they each shot 319 to tie for fifth.
Junior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) led the Spartans as he fired a six-over-par 78 to finish tied for 10th. Senior Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) finished one stroke back of Trabert as he shot 79 to finish tied for 15th.
Senior Jimmy DeCastro (Mantoloking, N.J./Governor Livingston) and freshman Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca, N.J.) rounded out the Spartan scorers as they each shot 80 to finish tied for 18th. Freshman Adam Dupler (York Haven, Pa./Red Land) rounded out the Spartan line up as he shot 81 to tie for 29th. Dupler’s score allowed the Spartans to capture second place.
The Spartans, who are now 77-18 this season, return to action on Monday, March 29 as they host the York College Invitational at the Out Door Country Club. The tournament is slated to start at 1:00 pm.
