LITITZ, PA – The York College men’s golf squad finished eighth of 15 varsity teams at the Bent Creek Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall College at Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, PA on Monday afternoon. The Spartans shot a team total of 317, nine strokes back of team champion Franklin & Marshall. York finished three strokes out of eighth and six strokes out of a tie for fifth.
The Spartans were paced by the freshman duo of Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca) and Adam Dupler (York Haven, Pa./Red Land). Schmehl carded a five-over-par 76, good for an 11th place tie in the 82-player field. Dupler backed his fellow frosh as he shot a 77, tying him for 14th place in the field.
Justin Heisler (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) was the third Spartan scorer as he shot an 81, which tied him for 41st in the field. Senior Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) and junior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) rounded out the Spartan lineup as they each shot 83.
The Spartans, who are now 114-36 in their 2008-09 campaign,
return to action with a two day tournament at the Glenmaura Golf
Club for the Glenmaura Collegiate Invitational. The tournament
kicks off Sunday afternoon at 12:00 pm and continues Monday at 8:00
